Jam Roll-Ups

Something started happening to me in the last year. Well, at least since I moved into my new home and got a lot happier. I've become.....wait for it..... domestic! I know, I know. I've actually been pretty do-it-yerself-ish. I've always been a bit of a knitter- scarves and such. I've also always liked baking, but mostly from a mix that comes out of a box, and mostly because it's the fastest way to get to eat something warm and delicious.

But, in the last several months, I've gotten pretty crafty. I've posted a few things here and there about said craftiness, and of course I highly recommend you go back and read that stuff. I've been pretty hooked on making my own jam, after reading how easy Brooke made it look earlier this summer. Since then, Little Bird has been enjoying tofu cream cheese and homemade jam sandwiches in her lunches. It's also delish when I dip pretzels in the jam! Well, last week, I had a bunch of blueberry jam and strawberry jam in the fridge and I got the fantastic idea to use it for even more deliciousness....

Jam Roll-ups

Step 1. roll out pie dough on a cookie sheet and spread jam all over that shizz, leaving about 1/2 inch from the edges of the pastry.

Step 2. take pizza slicer to it (you choose how many), and roll 'em up starting from the outer edges to make little crescents

Step 3. bake at 375 for 20-22 minutes and then eat them all up!

These were a great treat and I felt extra great about using ingredients I already had (I hate buying things I don't need) and especially about the fact that there's nothing NOT natural in the jam :)
