30 day project: day 30

Day 30 of the 30 day project: a picture of someone you miss

This is Gene. My favorite teacher. I took this picture of him when I was about 15 or 16 and he was helping me write papers and study for my college entrance exams. I miss him all the time. I think about him and what kind of advice he'd give me, whether I'd tell him the truth or protect him from it, whether he'd tell me the truth or protect me from it. I think about how proud it made him to know that his favorite student named her child after him. I think about how lucky he was to have gotten to meet Little Bird just a few months before he died. I think about how proud he'd be that I'm actually writing now, even though it's just a little blog. He'd be proud, and probably a little bit blown away.

I think about how I found this secret in a Post Secret book once and how I could have written it myself

And with that, the 30 day project comes to an end. Hope you enjoyed it. If you missed any of it, you can click here to catch up.

I too had a favorite teacher in high school- saw him this past summer for the first time in years and I gave him a huge hug :) I miss him too.

I loved your 30 days and had great plans to start my own on the 1st of January - didn't happen....maybe today?

Awesome. I had a favorite teacher in high school I think a lot about, too, the one who inspired me to write.

Congrats on the 30 days! And Happy 2011, Dani. I hope it's a wonderful one.

I always longed for a mentor like that. You're very lucky to have had one.

Congrats on your 30 days!

As a former teacher I love this! In fact, the reason I started teaching was because of a teacher I had. I am still in touch with many of my very first students from 2001, they were in 1st grade and are now 16 and "friending" me on facebook!!!

I loved the 30 day project. Some of it was so light hearted and fun... and some was so deep. That was great!
I am so greatful for Gene Brody, your teacher. he was able to reach you when I couldn't. Maybe he saved us both.

So my mom learns how to not post anonymously, and proceeds to give away both my last name AND my kid's name. Awesome.
