Disneyland!!!!

"Welcome to the Tragic Kingdom"
-No Doubt

We visited the happiest place on earth during the most wonderful time of the year.

Little Bird's first trip to Disneyland came on the busiest day ever at Disneyland. Apparently, they reached their capacity just two hours after opening the gates to the Magic Kingdom. They stopped selling tickets and even turned families away. We, luckily, already had our tickets in hand. We walked through the turn-styles and went straight to City Hall. I explained that we were visiting with Little Bird, who has Autism. They had me point her out ("the cute one with her fingers in her ears") and gave us a Special Assistance Pass, granting us access to the 'handicapped' lines. We entered the lines through the exit and much more patiently waited our turn. This was the way to go. I'm not saying we never waited, but the lines were about a two hour wait for some of the attractions. The longest we waited was about 20 minutes.

There was a moment when we got on our first ride (Peter Pan) when I got all warm and fuzzy and thought, "how exciting is this?! I'm taking my little girl on her very first ride at Disneyland."
And in that moment, everything was awesome.

Here are some of our pictures...

Tea Cups

Cotton Candy

And for those of you who, like me, grew up in southern California and visited Disneyland ALL the time, I leave you with the famous words of The Matterhorn:
"remain seated please; permane ser sentados por favor"

I'm so glad she liked it! The disability pass in invaluable.

Awesome pics! She looks delighted in those tea cups. That is Alain's favorite ride, yay for automatic super speedy spinning machines. We just went to Universal Orlando and had a blast but we couldn't have done it without the blessed Special Pass.

The pics are sooo cute, especially the one of Little Bird with her mouse ears. We've never been, but it's definitely a vacation goal.

It was a great day, but we never couldve made it without the pass. Finally, a win for the special needs community.

So glad it turned out to be a wonderful day- the pictures are awesome!

We haven't tried a huge amusement park yet- but at the smaller ones Brian has actually HATED the teacups....I don't get it, he spins at least two hours a day- yet hates that ride....

How wonderful! I read every word with great interest because we have a 10 yr old daughter with Asperger's.
I'm sure she would love it, too! I love Little Bird's face in all the pictures!!!

That sounds like so much fun! I'd love to do Disney World again now that we could grab a pass. We went to Sea World on Wednesday and I thought everyone in the Western hemisphere was there. Thank God, we had that pass. Because we had to do the special Christmastime "Polar Express Experience" about 73 times. =) Happy New Year!!

We might be going to DisneyWorld in March...can't wait to reap what is quite possibly the one and only benefit for us. She looks like she had a blast...I hope our trip is as successful!

I haven't been to Disneyland but I've been the way Disney World treats special needs kids (and adults) is absolutely amazing. They do everything they can't to make sure the kids have a great time.
